Llanganuco Lodge sits on the slopes of the Cordillera Blanca, the highest tropical mountain range in the world. The lodge has spectacular views of the three highest peaks in the range: Huascaran North (6664m), South (6768m) and Huandoy (6395m), along with many ice peaks to the south. Of course the sunsets over the Cordillera Negra mountain range to the West are simply incomparable.
The location provides unparalleled access to the Llanganuco and Rajururi gorges, these gorges are gateways to the National Park. The Llanganuco gorge is the premier attraction of the park and is an easy 25 minute walk. Here lie Pisco, YanaPacha, Chacaraju & Chopicalqui Mountains, Lake 96 – a world class day trek, the Llanganuco lakes and the Maria Josefa pre-Inca trail, which winds down through the cloud forest from the Chinacocha lake back to the lodge.
In the Rajururi gorge lies the lowest ice in the Cordillera Blanca at only 4000m. The Lodge is the ideal spot to acclimatize in comfort before undertaking some of the most awe inspiring treks in South America.
